The Murray Clan Society

We are delighted to announce that our application to become a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) has been successful. OSCR is satisfied that the organisation meets the charity test and the legal requirements for being a SCIO, and has entered it in the Scottish Charity Register. This means that The Murray Clan Society now has charitable status. The Head Trustee (Chairman) said: "Thriving transatlantic clan societies have set a wonderful example to their overseas cousins and they are understandably disappointed that for some years they have had no counterpart or point of reference in their spiritual homeland. They see the Murray Clan Society in Scotland as the trunk of the tree from which the branches spring. Too often the Scottish clan societies have been old-fashioned, inward-looking, and unadventurous. The vision is to attract family groups - young and old - to join a modernised, dynamic society, and to provide a focal point for all members of the Clan - wherever they may be. It's always great to see so many beautiful Murrays of different generations join their family clan at the Highland Games in the USA and Canada. Their enthusiasm and passion is truly inspirational. This is why The Murray Clan Society is being revived for future generations to enjoy and learn about the Murray Clan's rich history, carrying the Society forward to a new era, thus fulfilling the official motto which adorns the Murray Clan Society’s coat of arms: FORWARD WITH FORTUNE".
