Why join the Murray Clan Society?
Affiliate membership
Every person who has the same surname as the Chief (MURRAY) is deemed to be a member of the clan. Equally, a person who has one of the surnames recognised as associated with the Murray Clan (Septs) [Balneaves, Dinsmore, Dunsmore, Fleming, Moray, Murrie, Murry, Neaves, Piper, Pyper, Smail, Smale, Small, Smeal, Spalding, and variations], or who is connected by marriage, ancestry, or descent with the Clan name, then they are already a member of the Murray Clan as part of their heritage.
Affiliate Membership of the Murray Clan Society is available for anyone with an interest in the history, culture, and traditions of the Murray Clan and in the work of those who have borne the name Murray, or who simply wants to stay in touch.

- Work is in hand to form a unique collection of books, pictures, and memorabilia relating to Murray history, through the generosity of members past and present.
- The Society is busy planning an International Murray Clan Gathering in May 2028 at Blair Castle in Scotland, in association with the Murray Clan Society of North America, which will start on a Thursday or Friday with visits to places of Murray interest and events for the members. On Saturday, there will be attendance at the Atholl Highlanders' Parade followed by the Annual General Meeting, a formal dinner and clan ceilidh (Highland dress and Murray tartan encouraged). On Sunday, there will be attendance and the Clan March at the Atholl Gathering and Highland Games in Target Park (remembering to wear some Murray tartan). On Monday, attendees may wish to visit other places of Murray interest or connections.
- The long-term goal is to purchase a site, a small piece of ground - rough or marginal land - in the clan territory for members of the clan throughout the world to either scatter the remains of their loved ones or plant some native trees to provide a lasting and living legacy - a Clan Murray Wood or Garden of Remembrance.
