The Murray Clan Society

We are delighted to have adopted one acre on Schiehallion in the name of The Murray Clan Society which will care for and protect an acre of mountain landscape for one year. It is a poignant spot in the heart of our clan territory with sweeping views over Atholl. "In grateful remembrance of each one of the founder members of the Murray Clan Society and all the loyal clansmen and clanswomen past and present".
The name Schiehallion is taken from the Gaelic, Sìth Chailleann, meaning ‘Fairy Hill of the Caledonians’. It is one of Highland Perthshire’s most popular Munros [3,553 ft] and designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Our gift will help restore native woodland there and improve a wide range of other habitats including heather moorland and bog, home to a variety of wildlife including red deer, hares, ptarmigan, and the threatened black grouse.
Members of the Murray clan throughout the world can visit Schiehallion for themselves and see first-hand how we are making a difference. Walk through peaceful Gleann Mòr, or head for the Munro’s summit, where there are fabulous views across Loch Rannoch, the wilds of Rannoch Moor, and the hills of the central Highlands as far as Glencoe.
